Monday Night Racing
2024-2025 Season Information

New Racers Are Always Welcome - Both Skiers & Boarders

If you can make it down the hill, you can race! The DSC gets points for every person who participates. Open to all members (18+) on skis or a board. It’s not just racing. Club members tend to stick around afterwards for pizza (provided by the DSC) and beverages (not provided).

It's almost that time again! This may be redundant for experienced racers, but we are sharing all the below information to make sure everyone is ready for the coming season - both experienced and new racers. Some things have changed as far as registration goes including a new registration system. Below you will find all the information you need. You can always check the CSC Racing Page.

The DSC has been 4th in CT for the last few seasons. We are a very fast race time, but we need more racers on the hill to move up to 3rd place! The DSC needs your help!

Kick Off the Race Season with a Pizza Party!
Monday December 9th 2024

Optional - but a fun way to get the stoke going!

Monday night racing is celebrating 52 years of competition. Southington will be open, and it should be very similar to last year. We plan to have a pizza party on Monday December 9th at 6:30 PM. The mountain will provide the pizzas. If people bring their laptop computer, registration on-line can be done that night for the first race on 12/23. The pizza night is a way to meet other racers, see the layout at Mount Southington, meet Rob Dexter, make sure you've entered registration info correctly, and just have a fun social night with other CSC clubs.

Information Needed for Racing

The following information is needed for all racers.

The CT Ski Council has announced the schedule for Monday Night Racing (MNR) which is an 8 race series:

  1. Equipment: Skier or Boarder
  2. Name (First & Last)
  3. Address
  4. Birthday
  5. Gender: Male or Female
  6. Ski Club: Danbury Ski Club
  7. E-mail address
  8. Telephone Number
  9. NASTAR Number. If you do not have a NASTAR number, one will be assigned to you on your first race.
All of this info must be entered into the CSC racing database. You be assigned a CSC perm number, which will be unique to you and will follow all of your racing history.

In order to race, you must be a paid member of one of the Danbury Ski Club.

Once you have a perm number any updates of your information should be forwarded to Rob Dexter at skicouncil@gmail.com. Also initial requests for perm # should be directed to this email.

In order to race on a Monday night, the CSC will use a new Mount Southington racing web site for payment for racing and ski ticket. Payment for Monday night racing will go through the Mount Southington online sales system, not AdminSports that was used in prior years.

Payment must be done between Friday and noon on the Monday of the race. You must register on line prior to the race! NO EXCEPTION. There will be no walk-ins the day of the race. Registration on Mount Southington site should happen in advance of any race and both the NASTAR # and Perm # are required for initial registration.

Bibs will be handed out at your first race, and you will keep them for the season. They must be turned in at the end of the season (or your last race). The skier run order is determined by a lottery number for each course. That number drawn in the lottery runs first, and others follow in order, and it loops around. There can be 2 runs, the best run counts. Men 65 & over, women, and snowboarders run on the skiers right course, Men 64 & under on the skiers left course. There is a 3rd course (skiers far right) that is a training NASTAR course, which is available for an extra fee (sign up for NASTAR) on the web page.

If you have questions on the above, please direct them to skicouncil@gmail.com.

Mount Southington Information

Race Registration: 5:30pm - 7:15pm
Races Begin: 7:30pm

Monday night racers are members of one of the Connecticut Ski Council Clubs. The format is giant slalom with the best of two runs. Steps to register and purchase race tickets:

  1. Create a new account HERE, if you have not already done so since August 1, 2023. This is a one time step!
  2. Register for a night race each week HERE. You have until 2pm the day of the race, to register.

If you have not purchased a reloadable media card (RFID card) since August 1, 2023 please purchase one the first time you buy a race ticket. Upon arrival the first night, pick up your RFID card at the ticket window or, stop in before hand to avoid the lines the first night. Once you have your card, you simply reload it for each race and proceed to the lifts when you get here. If you have a season pass you must purchase a race ticket for season pass holders in order to partake in the race.

IMPORTANT: Everyone MUST have their card with them to get on a lift. Cards will be scanned while in the lift lines, every time. If you lose your card or forget it at home, head over to guest services to get a new one issued; there is a $5 charge to do this. All of your information will be transferred to the new card and your old card will be deactivated.

Remember - You must purchase your ticket by 2pm on the day of each race.
Remember - You must bring your racing bib every week.

Please review all of the information above and if you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to the race directors Audrey or DK.

The following information is needed for all racers.

Monday night racing is celebrating 52 years of competition. Southington will be open, and it should be very similar to last year. We plan to have a pizza party on Monday December 9. Pizza night, Mount Southington will foot the bill for pizza. We will continue to use the Mount Southington database for ski ticket and race fees = it will go thru Mount Southington’s web page. An RFID card will be issued. That card must be displayed or shown EVERY TIME prior to riding the lift. The deadline to sign up for racing is noon on the day of the race, similar to last year. Now everybody that purchased a ticket for racing will be in that nights database, so less errors. You will need your CSC perm# prior to signing up on the web page. Look at last year’s results to see it, or if you are a new racer, contact me at skicouncil@gmail.com to have one issued. Your perm# stays with you forever. Also your bib number should be entered into the database [issued each year]. Southington said they will delete all last years bib numbers in the database from 2023-24 years racing, (I hope this happens)

Typically we will have 2 runs on the main courses, but they will NOT count as NASTAR runs. If you want to qualify for NASTAR you may run on the NASTAR course {skiers right} and there will be no extra charge. Unfortunately there will be NO NASTAR Nationals this year, Outside Magazine (NASTAR owners) announced it will not be held.

If you have registered for a race, come to Southington to get your bib for the first time you race, or possibly get it on pizza night on Monday December 9. If you do not make the pizza night make sure you come early to your first night of racing to get your bib, on the first night there is typically a backup.

Age is based on you age on December 31, 2024 (for the ski year 2024-2025)

RED Course (old) Men born in 1957 (turn 67 in 2024) and older, and all women, and all snowboarders will have Bibs 1-199 (Red Course)

BLUE Course (young) Men born 1958 and younger (turn 66 in 2024) will have Bibs 200-399 (Blue course)

Any woman racer older than 69 or men older than 73 may run first on their course (the oldest 2 age classes) Last year there were 10 men and 9 women.

Bibs will be handed out on a first come first served basis – and since we have the lottery for race bib order each night- a low number is not necessarily an advantage. Give yourself extra time when you get your bib on the first night.

The Monday night CSC race series at Mount Southington, CT -schedule for 2024-2025 is:
December 23, 30
January 6, 13, 20, 27
February 3, 10, [8 weeks]
February 17, 24 (Makeup Dates)

BIBS: We will do as we did last year hand out CSC bibs for the year. Racers will be responsible to bring their bib each week. Each week will be the same sequence bib order, but the first racer number will vary. Racers MUST turn in their bibs at the end of the season (racers last race night) or their club will be billed for the missing bib.

TICKETS: On-line ticket sales – will eliminate money/credit card interaction. Ticket/racing prices will be shown on the Southington web page, and NASTAR will be free to all, ONLY in the skiers right course.;

OTHER RACES: There will be no State Slalom nor Giant Slalom, nor Cross Country race. We should have an On-Snow event this year, and it will be a ONE day event. Stay tuned for those details.

Please stay safe out there, and pray for LOTS of snow, or at least cold weather!….
